AKERU Temple of the True Living Waters is a contemporary
Per Ankh (Kemetic Temple & Seminary) which upholds
and teaches the principles of Higher Love through
Maat, metaphysical education, African Kemetic
culture and spirituality, creative arts, community activism, and the intricate art of building bridges to peace. Above all, AKERU Temple makes ancient Kemetic teachings realistically relevant to today's lifestyle.
Founded by Pastor Queen Mother Imakhu, AKERU honors the African Kemetic Water traditions (Uat Tau Rekhit), and is Keeper of the Shen Urrit Healing System. Uat Tau Rekhit is the path of the peacemaker, the activist, and the healer. The emotional/mental/physical/spiritual healing of self, family, and community brings empowerment. Based on the principles of Maat (harmony, order, justice, reciprocity, balance), strength through community interdependence was understood and practiced by our ancestors. AKERU Temple upholds the Maat way of living.
As a Kemetic ministry, AKERU Temple of the True Living Waters provides individual and family counseling, life coaching, Kemetic healing modalities, African-centered creative arts, and cultural self-empowerment tools for youth, adults, and elders. AKERU Temple also provides the educational understanding of how African Kemetic spirituality birthed Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and other major world religions. Education broadens proactive communication. Proactive communication broadens opportunities for finding common ground and resolution.

In addition to specializing in Kemetic Water Traditions, AKERU Temple teaches Life activation through Art, and the Art of Words. Queen Mother Imakhu's Art Alchemy techniques, featuring designated spiritual art projects, reinforce the personal energy of the Neteru (Kemetic guardians of the Life Force). AKERU Priesthood students also learn the intricate secrets, power, poetry, and effective use of Hekau (Words of Power, or Word Alchemy).
An AKERU Temple spiritual/cultural education offers appropriate guidance and nurturing without coddling. AKERU Family Fellowship Study Groups encourage community building and family oriented social activities while learning our African Kemetic history, spirituality, and culture. The AKERU Seminary is for serious students who are committed, focused, mature, self-directed, who embrace intense study, embrace community service, and embrace living our ancestral African Kemetic traditions. Learning to "Live the Culture" is more than book knowledge - it is knowing who you are, who we were as a people, and where we are going. Our Kemetic ancestors valued intellect, high moral character, discipline, and a balanced heart. Through the classes offered here, students have the opportunity to reshape their destinies. Be aware: AKERU Temple is not interested in creating Cookie Cutter Kemites. While uniformity in protocols, morality, and cultural/spiritual practices are taught and stressed, AKERU encourages and embraces the unique voices we each have been blessed to express.
AKERU, a term predating "Sankofa," means Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow - honoring ancient ancestry, life today, and investing in future generations.
